Story Telling Event at Bundle

August 5, 2019 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Back in the Day
August 5, 2019
3:30-5:00 and 6:00-7:30

On Monday, August 5, Story Matters and the Ilsley Public  Library will host Back in the Day, a special story telling event to share stories of downtown Middlebury in days of yore at Bundle.  Anyone who remembers downtown Middlebury in the 1940’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s is invited to join in this story telling exchange.   No doubt, there will be recollections of the time when pharmacies, soda fountains and department stores lined Main Street and Merchant’s Row, when Star Mill housed a popular drinking hole, and tractors were sold in the Marble Works.

Two story cycles will take place, 3:30-5:00pm and 6:00-7:30pm.  From 3:30-8:30pm copies of photos of downtown Middlebury will be on display.  MCTV will film the stories to show on their website.

Those with stories to tell about downtown Middlebury, Back in the Day, are encouraged to contact Mark Wilch at mdwilch@gmail.com to be included in the line up of storytellers.  Anyone with copies of images of historic downtown Middlebury, should contact Dorothea Langevin at dorothea.langevin@gmail.com.

Through the process of telling and hearing stories. Story Matters hopes to build a bridge between Middlebury as it once was, Back in the Day, and the downtown Middlebury of the future, after the bridges project is completed and downtown is transformed into a new and thriving space for shopping, eating, walking, and visiting.   Story Matters believes that remembering and telling stories of downtown Middlebury, in its various iterations through the years, can help us more fully anticipate a future downtown, once again bustling with activity, shoppers, visitors, young and old, and new establishments yet to be revealed.
