Two girls go hunting
June 13 at 1 p.m.
This ethnographic film is part of a trilogy that focuses on the Hamar, an isolated people of southwestern Ethiopia whose traditional lifestyle has been barely touched by war and the famine in the north. The films concentrate on the powerful outspoken Hamar women, particular Duka, who in the films matures from a young unmarried girl to a wife and mother with two young children. The twenty-year relationship of the anthropologist with the Hamar people allowed for a remarkably spontaneous portrayal. Please note: this film includes some nudity that is acceptable in Hamar culture but which may not be appropriate for all audiences.
