National Library Week – April 10 - 16
We like to think that every week is special at your library, but we’d love to have you come in and say hello during National Library Week and see what’s new. The always-friendly staff is happy to help you find a book, use a computer, or pick up an audio book for your next trip with the family to Grandma’s house. Reading Rocks! Armchair Travel
Wednesdays at 3:45 on April 6 and 13
Visit Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, and Japan with Page 1 students of Middlebury College. Share stories, simple phrases in other languages, and explore other cultures with our college friends. Grade 2 and up. Register.

Celebrate Poetry with Margaret Sanchez
Thursdays at 3:30 on April 7 and 14
April is Poetry Month, and we’ve got some to share. Listen to some, try your hand at writing some, and do a poetry craft. Bring a friend and a smile, as this is not a serious afternoon! Grades 1 and up. Register.

Come to the Movies
Tuesday, April 19 at 10:30
We’ll be showing a recently released full-length feature film for children. We’re not allowed to publish the film title, so ask us a few days before the movie and we’ll give you more details. The film will last about 90 minutes. No registration necessary.

Adventures on the Road in Old Japan
Wednesday, April 20 at 10:30. Register.
Join us as we travel the Tokaido road to see the sights of 19th century Japan. We’ll look at slides of artist Ando Hiroshige’s 53 Stations of the Tokaido, a series of ukiyo-e woodblock prints that captured the beauty of the landscape and the activities of travelers along this famous road. Make a Japanese family crest called a mon. A Fleming Museum program for ages 7 and up. Register.

Origami – for all ages
Third Thursdays from 7:00-9:00 – April 21
Join Don Shall for his monthly workshop in the ancient art of paper folding, through FAC.T! (Folders of Addison County – Teaching!). It’s FREE & open to ALL ages, in the Community Meeting Room. All materials provided; just bring your fingers (plus a shoebox, and a friend).

Storytimes
Toddlers Ages One & Two – Wednesdays at 10:30
Preschoolers Ages 3 & Up – Thursdays at 10:30

Newcomers are always welcome to join us for stories, wiggle times, and a craft project appropriate for the age group. Please register so we’ll be sure to have craft supplies for everyone.
Please NOTE: No Storytimes April 20 & 21, during School Vacation Week.

All the World’s a Stage Presents Henry V
Wednesday, April 27 at 3:30
For their fifth production at Ilsley Public Library, this children’s theater company presents an adapted version of Shakespeare’s Henry V. This history play features drama, choreographed sword fighting, classic Shakespearean speeches, and most importantly, laugh aloud comedy!
The cast of kids and teens ranges in age from eight to seventeen. Directed by Nicole Morse, with costumes by Jane Hebert, this production is appropriate for all ages. No registration necessary.

Stories, music, and activities for your preschoolers.
Chapter Book Time – Thursdays 3:30 - 4:00
Mona shares a chapter book with older listeners.
No registration is necessary; just come and join the group.

DCF Voting
Children in grades 4-8 may vote until April 14 on their favorite book from this year’s Dorothy Canfield Fisher Master List. Students from across the state will be participating to choose the winner of this year’s award for Vermont’s favorite children’s book. You do not have to read all 30 books on the list to vote. The books on the Master List for 2005-2006 are now available on the New Book shelf in the Children’s Room for your reading pleasure.
