Youth Services

Providing support for preschool literacy has long been a mission for public libraries. Our youth services department is happy to offer literacy-based storytimes for children from birth through 5 years. Join us as we laugh, sing, read, play and create during our popular programs. We offer a one 30-minute storytime aimed at babies and toddlers, a 45-minute storytime for preschoolers and a 30-minute family storytime on Saturdays. Siblings are welcome in all storytimes. Ask at the children’s room desk on the ground floor or check the monthly newsletter for dates and times.

Ilsley library is working hard to help children succeed in a digital world while supporting the growing independence of our school-aged patrons. We offer several independent programs for children 10 and older, including a Youth Media Lab in collaboration with MCTV that teaches children how to create and edit movies, Foodie Friday where children cook and eat simple snacks, and The Zone where children can learn basic coding, watch newly-released movies, participate in book discussion groups, complete crafts, create with Legos and more. Check at the youth desk for a monthly calendar of events.
