The Library Building Committee is a now defunct group that was charged with assessing Ilsley Public Library's space needs and obtaining preliminary design options and cost estimates for necessary renovations and/or additions. The Library Building Committee held meetings to study the future of libraries, identified challenges and needs of Ilsley’s building, and worked with Gossens Backman Architects (bgA) on library design considerations. The culmination of the committee's work was the 2017 feasibility study and a recommendation to pursue a major renovation and expansion on the library's current site, with an estimate cost of $9.6 million.
The committee consisted of two members of the Town Selectboard, two members of the Ilsley Library Board, two Middlebury residents chosen by the four board members, and two Ex Officio members, Town Manager Kathleen Ramsay, and Librarian Kevin Unrath.
