As you likely know by now, Mini Ilsley is up and running! We are loving our temporary home. Stop by to say hello, check out a book, or just enjoy the lovely space!
Meanwhile, ReArch Company began mobilizing onsite on Monday, March 17. You might have noticed a fence going up around the construction zone perimeter. Even though we all knew it was coming, it’s still a bit of a surprise to realize you can’t just pull into the upper parking lot anymore! (You can view the complete site logistics layout here.)
Better Middlebury Partnership is working with local organizations and artists to design canvases to decorate the fencing. Stay tuned!
The friendly folks from Middlebury Fence installing the construction fence!
View of the upper parking lot (soon to be an active construction site)!
Onsite work has started, although it’s largely hidden from view at this point. This week Clay Point Associates supervised abatement of asbestos tiles in the bathroom of the 1977 addition. Green Mountain Power and Consolidated were also onsite, relocating utilities in preparation for construction.
Up next…
Week of March 21st: Selective demolition begins (interior demo, will take place out of site). Geothermal well drilling begins in the upper parking lot. There are two planned wells in the upper lot, which should take about two weeks to complete. Then the activity will move down to the lower lot to drill a final well in mid-April.
Week of April 4th: Demolition of 1988 and 1977 additions additions (will take most of the month to complete).
