January Updates

I want to thank everyone who attended the library’s Open House on December 9th! Over 90 people came to view the current designs, chat with the design team, and provide further feedback. While the design process is far from finished, the architects are finishing up the schematic phase and the Ilsley 100 Project Team is focusing on funding.

Not unexpectedly, while we have reduced the square footage overall, the utilities work and rising construction costs have led to an increase in estimated costs. We will continue to explore cost-saving measures. At the same time, we are looking closely at our potential sources of funding and anticipate being able to cover a little over one-third of the total project cost through grants and private fundraising. We are entering the new year in a great place, with lots of forward momentum and hopes for a spring bond vote.

It is not too late to become involved in this project in a meaningful way! I encourage you to take a look at the presentation posters of the schematic designs, review our process, and learn more about the new spaces and services this project will bring to the community. You may provide feedback through our online form, or by emailing me directly. My door is open, and I am eager to discuss the library’s future with you; please do not hesitate to reach out!
