Parks

Everyone deserves access to welcoming outdoor spaces. Middlebury's parks provide places to rest, enjoy fresh air, and take a break while staying connected to the community and nearby resources.

Between Park and Main Streets is the small triangle known as Cannon Green. It features a Civil War cannon. It also features an excellent open-air "Butterfly" table tennis table. Paddles and balls are available to borrow for free at The Middlebury Shop.

college park

College Park is a welcoming public green space at the corner of South Main, College, and Academy Streets in Middlebury. Opened in 2017, the park features open lawns, shade trees, seating, and landscaped gathering areas designed for relaxation, informal play, and community events. Serving as a gateway between downtown and Middlebury College, College Park offers an inviting place for residents, students, and visitors to meet, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with the community.

village green park

Village Green Triangle Park is a small public park in the heart of downtown Middlebury. The park features open green space, seating, landscaping, and a restored historic fountain, providing a welcoming place to relax, meet friends, enjoy community events, or take a break while exploring downtown. Reconnected to the Village Green as part of Middlebury's downtown Bridge & Rail Project, Triangle Park serves as both a gathering space and a gateway to local shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions.

The Happy Trail is a peaceful riverside walking path tucked along the banks of Otter Creek near Frog Hollow in downtown Middlebury. The trail offers a quiet natural setting just steps from the village center, with views of the creek, mature trees, and opportunities to observe birds and other wildlife. Popular for walking, reflection, and enjoying nature, the Happy Trail provides a serene connection to one of Middlebury's most scenic natural landscapes while remaining close to downtown amenities.

Otter View Park is a 0.6 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Middlebury, Vermont that features a boardwalk connecting to Otter Creek River and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Middlebury Recreation Park is a welcoming community space for people of all ages to enjoy the outdoors. The park features walking trails, open green spaces, athletic fields, playgrounds, and picnic areas, making it a great place for exercise, recreation, and family gatherings.
