Pet Support
Pets are family, and there are resources available to help keep them healthy and cared for during difficult times. If you're having trouble caring for your pet, help is available. Local organizations offer pet food assistance, affordable veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and temporary emergency boarding during times of crisis.
Homeward Bound offers several programs for low-income pet owners, including:
PetCORE, which provides monthly pet food assistance, low-cost wellness care, flea/tick prevention, and affordable spay/neuter services for eligible Addison County residents. Pet food is distributed through the HOPE food shelf.
Pets in Crisis, which provides temporary emergency boarding for pets when owners are experiencing a medical emergency, domestic violence situation, or other crisis. Referrals are made through a social service agency.
PetFIX, a low-cost veterinary clinic offering wellness exams, vaccinations, treatment for minor illnesses, and affordable spay/neuter surgeries.
In partnership with Homeward Bound, HOPE distributes supplemental pet food to qualifying families through its food shelf.

Helping Overcome Poverty's Effects
Middlebury Animal Hospital provides veterinary care for dogs and cats, including wellness exams, vaccinations, illness and injury treatment, surgery, dental care, and behavioral services. Payment is generally due at the time of service. CareCredit financing is accepted for eligible clients. If cost is a concern, call the hospital to discuss your pet's needs and ask about payment options or referrals to local assistance programs.
