Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a literacy program founded by Dolly Parton to foster a love of reading among preschoolers and families. Currently 800 Addison County preschoolers are enrolled in this program.

What does Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library offer?
Children receive a free, age-appropriate book that is mailed to their home each month until their fifth birthday.

Who is eligible?
Any child from birth to five years of age who resides in Addison County is welcome to enroll.

What are the books like?
A team of early childhood education experts working with The Dollywood Foundation selects the Imagination Library books. Children of different ages receive different titles. They are new, of high quality, and theirs to keep. Participants can receive 60 books in all if they are registered at birth.

How much does it cost to participate?
It is free to those enrolled. Addison County Readers pays $30 per year for each child, which is raised through local donations and fundraising.

How do I sign my child up?
You can apply online at www.addisoncountyreaders.org or pick up an application at your local library, pediatrician's office, or daycare center. Return the application to:

How is this program funded?
Volunteers at Addison County Readers, Inc., are responsible for obtaining the $30 per child per year that it costs to deliver books to Addison County preschoolers. Grants, contributions from Addison County towns, local organizations, and private donors keep the program going. Tax-deductible donations may be made out to UWAC-ACR and mailed to:
