November Updates

Those of you that have been following the renovation and expansion project will be pleased to hear that things are moving forward. In early October the town contracted with ReArch and Wiemann Lamphere Architects (WLA) for schematic design. On October 4th their team of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers visited the library for a close inspection of the historic structure and nearby utilities. On October 6th, a team from the Vermont Historic Preservation Department visited Ilsley to meet with the WLA architects and discuss ways to preserve and restore our 1924 building. And on October 25th architect and preservationist Dennis Humphries, who has been the principal architect on over 125 public libraries, visited Ilsley to review the conceptual plans, solicit input from the library staff, and conduct a work session with the WLA architects.

Over the past few weeks, the WLA architects have been reviewing community feedback, meeting with library staff and Project Team members, and further developing schematic designs. We are in the early stages of this process and the timeline is subject to change, but at this point we are hoping to schedule another round of community feedback in early December. I will share information on meeting times and opportunities for community input as it becomes available. Until then, please feel free to email me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you have regarding the renovation and expansion project!
