Early Brain Development: What you should know, and why it matters
Tuesday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Johana "Jody" Brakeley will describe how our brains develop and continually change. Among the topics for discussion are the effects of good and bad "stress," new ways to understand temper tantrums, explanations for attention regulation issues such as ADHD, the impact of anxiety/worry on one's thinking skills, and the value of learning self-calming skills. No matter what your age, background, or field of interest, there will be something for you. Bring your questions, personal experiences and an open mind! Sponsored by Ilsley Library, Mary Johnson Child Care services, and Let's Grow Kids.

In Chinese (Mandarin) with English subtitles.. This film focuses on a birth control official, Lü Guohua, in the remote northeastern village of Fanshen. Lu has to take things into his own hands in 2001 when a pregnant woman, defying the one-child-family policy, disappears to avoid mandatory abortion. Because of this, his good relationship with the village head is broken.
